About us

Cleardocs has been successfuly trading in Australia since 2003, founded by plain language advocate and trainer, Christopher Balmford. The revolutionary document management technology enables Cleardocs to deliver automated standard legal documents online - at significantly lower prices than traditional providers. The master documents and question interfaces are written in market-leading plain language and signed-off by the one of the UK's leading full service law firms, Ashfords.

Christopher Balmford, founder & MD

Christopher is an internationally recognised plain-language expert. He is the President of Clarity - An international association promoting plain legal language, see www.clarity-international.net. His clients include 8 major national law firms, 20 public listed companies, 16 government bodies, the ASX, the United Nations and the European Central Bank.

A former lawyer, Christopher has worked for his own company since 1999. Before then he worked as:

  • Head of the Plain Language Department, Phillips Fox, 1993-1999

  • In-house plain-language consultant, AMP on secondment from Phillips Fox, 1996-1999

  • Head of the plain-language business, Law Reform Commission of Victoria, 1990-1992

  • Part-time researcher, Law Institute of Victoria, 1990-1991

  • Property solicitor and articled clerk, Baker & McKenzie, 1987-1989.

 

Lisa Galbraith, CEO

Lisa joined Cleardocs after spending 16 years at Hewlett-Packard. Her other roles within the company include:

  • General Manager Re-marketing, 1996-1998

  • General Manager of Australasian Leasing, 1993-1998

  • Marketing Manager of Asia-Pacific Leasing, 1991-1993.

Lisa holds a B.Comm from the University of Melbourne.

 

Frances Critchlow, Director - Business Development

Frances joined Cleardocs with over 13 years experience in marketing and business development management in technology companies, including:

  • Global Product Business Manager, Hewlett-Packard

  • EMEA Marketing Manager, Kingston Technology

  • Head of Marketing, SPI Lasers

Frances holds a MSc in International Marketing Management from the University of Surrey, Guildford.
